Tattoo Lightening vs. Tattoo Removal

I want to talk briefly about the terms "Tattoo Lightening" and  "Tattoo Removal".

Tattoo Lightening: Whether you choose the laser or saline method, both treatments are considered tattoo "lightening".  Multiple visits will be necessary for the pigment to fade.  Permanent Makeup lightening sessions vary from skin to skin, therefore, there are no guarantees.  Some pigment colors lighten faster than others, certain skin types heal with less scarring than others, all pigment manufacturers use different ingredients and colors to create their pigment, as a result, they will fade differently.

Tattoo Removal: This requires a doctor to extract the skin that has pigment, henceforth, "remove the skin".  This process will scar, leaving the skin with possible hyper or hypo pigmentation.

I wanted to clarify the two terms because clients are eager to get their tattoos 'removed', but in reality, once pigment is placed into their skin, it's a long slow process to lighten the pigment.

With permanent makeup correction procedures, multiple sessions are required to lighten the tattoo.  After the initial pigment is significantly faded, the artist's choice of color is placed to correct mal color or design.  Please note, our skin still retains hints of the original color, so the artist should know that whatever new color is placed will mix with the original pigment to create a third color.

If the original permanent makeup brow is too thick, high or wide, it's difficult to make them smaller.  However, if the permanent makeup brows are too thin or small, you may have a better chance of correcting the procedure.

Permanent Eyeliner turns blue grey

Before Permanent Makeup Brows and Liner                                                       After Permanent Makeup Hairstroke Brows and Eyeliner                                                C ommon question asked by my clients: I had permanent eyeliner done in the past.  The original artist used Black pigment.  It looked great at first, but as the pigment faded, it turned Blue Grey.  Why does this happen and what can I do? As mentioned before, all pigment fades over time.  Carbon Black pigment has a lot of the primary Blue color.  Therefore, as the other colors in the Black fade, the blue color remains. Touch ups are essential to keeping permanent eyeliner looking fresh and crisp.  If you have blue grey liner, ask the artist to add Orange Pigment to the Black Pigment to counter balance the Blue.  The Orange pigment will turn the blue into a soft brown, and with the added black pigment, the blue will not be noticeable. What is the difference between Micro Blading and Tattoos

What is the difference between Micro Blading and other Permanent Makeup modalities. Microblading is a tool that is popular with the newer generation of permanent makeup artists.  The marketing of Microblading has dominated our industry in the past 2 to 3 years. Microblade is a hand held tool where the series of needles are configured tightly to form a "blade" or a "knife".  The artist uses the "blade" to cut "hair like" incisions into the skin.  The pigment is then smeared into the cuts.  The width of the blade is extremely narrow so that the artist can create an illusion of eyebrow hairs. Due to the narrow width of the blade, the artist must minimize the space in between each stroke.  If the strokes are placed too far apart, the tattoo may appear sparse when healed.  If the strokes are placed too closely, then the pigment from each stroke blend into the next stroke and causes pigment migration or a shaded look.  Immediat

What to do next, if you hate your new Permanent Makeup procedure.

Q:  What do you do when you absolutely hate your Permanent Makeup Brows? For new brows,  Be Patient!  Permanent Makeup brow procedures take minimum 2 weeks to heal.  The brows will go through various transformation within the next 14 days.  The first week of healing, pigment will temporarily appear bigger and darker.  Within a week's time, they will dry and form a crusty scab.  Once the scab peels, the pigment should look lighter and smaller. If the shape is not ideal, most brow shape can be modified.  They may not be perfect, but there's always room for improvement.  Find a Permanent Makeup Artist that specialize in  correction procedures. If the color needs to be altered, that too can be modified.  They can be lightened or darkened by a  Permanent Makeup Correction Specialist. After the tattoo has healed, topical makeup such as eyeshadow or brow pencil can be used to alter or enhance the shape and color. Keep in mind, we want our eyes to be the focal point, no
