Botox, Fillers, and Permanent Makeup

Botox, Fillers and Permanent Makeup, Oh My!!!

Clients frequently ask if they should try Botox and Fillers...

My quick response would be, "Why not, give it a try."  However, there's pros and cons to everything.  Liquid cosmetic enhancement can shave years off the face, however, as we age, we need more and more to gain similar results.

My long response would be to consider the following...

Average Cost:
Be aware, it can get pricey depending on how many cc's your face needs.  On the average, plastic surgeons charge $11 to $15 per cc for Botox.   The average cost for fillers are $300 to $600 per syringe (8cc)
The cost adds up quickly.

Who to Trust:
Do not assume all certified plastic surgeons are good with injecting Botox and Fillers.  Many surgeons master niche procedures, but you can't expect one person to master everything.   For example, if your plastic surgeon did an amazing job with your breast augmentation, don't automatically assume he'll also be good with Fillers.  The use of Fillers and Botox is an art.  The right placement and dosage is essential to natural results.

Do your research and ask friends and family for recommendations.  In my humble opinion, Plastic Surgeons should stick to surgery and MedSpa doctors/nurses should stick to syringes and laser treatments.

What if I don't like the results:
The Pro and Con of Botox and Fillers is that the results are temporary.  At best, Botox lasts 3-5 months.  There are numerous fillers that lasts 9 months to 24 months.  Again, do your research, find out which product is best for you and go in for a consultation prior to the procedure.   Again, I highly recommend seeking doctors that do injections all day vs. surgery.

Permanent Eyeliner turns blue grey

Before Permanent Makeup Brows and Liner                                                       After Permanent Makeup Hairstroke Brows and Eyeliner                                                C ommon question asked by my clients: I had permanent eyeliner done in the past.  The original artist used Black pigment.  It looked great at first, but as the pigment faded, it turned Blue Grey.  Why does this happen and what can I do? As mentioned before, all pigment fades over time.  Carbon Black pigment has a lot of the primary Blue color.  Therefore, as the other colors in the Black fade, the blue color remains. Touch ups are essential to keeping permanent eyeliner looking fresh and crisp.  If you have blue grey liner, ask the artist to add Orange Pigment to the Black Pigment to counter balance the Blue.  The Orange pigment will turn the blue into a soft brown, and with the added black pigment, the blue will not be noticeable. What is the difference between Micro Blading and Tattoos

What is the difference between Micro Blading and other Permanent Makeup modalities. Microblading is a tool that is popular with the newer generation of permanent makeup artists.  The marketing of Microblading has dominated our industry in the past 2 to 3 years. Microblade is a hand held tool where the series of needles are configured tightly to form a "blade" or a "knife".  The artist uses the "blade" to cut "hair like" incisions into the skin.  The pigment is then smeared into the cuts.  The width of the blade is extremely narrow so that the artist can create an illusion of eyebrow hairs. Due to the narrow width of the blade, the artist must minimize the space in between each stroke.  If the strokes are placed too far apart, the tattoo may appear sparse when healed.  If the strokes are placed too closely, then the pigment from each stroke blend into the next stroke and causes pigment migration or a shaded look.  Immediat

What to do next, if you hate your new Permanent Makeup procedure.

Q:  What do you do when you absolutely hate your Permanent Makeup Brows? For new brows,  Be Patient!  Permanent Makeup brow procedures take minimum 2 weeks to heal.  The brows will go through various transformation within the next 14 days.  The first week of healing, pigment will temporarily appear bigger and darker.  Within a week's time, they will dry and form a crusty scab.  Once the scab peels, the pigment should look lighter and smaller. If the shape is not ideal, most brow shape can be modified.  They may not be perfect, but there's always room for improvement.  Find a Permanent Makeup Artist that specialize in  correction procedures. If the color needs to be altered, that too can be modified.  They can be lightened or darkened by a  Permanent Makeup Correction Specialist. After the tattoo has healed, topical makeup such as eyeshadow or brow pencil can be used to alter or enhance the shape and color. Keep in mind, we want our eyes to be the focal point, no
