There are several ways to darken light brow hair color. Henna, Hair Dye, Laminated Brows with tinting, Topical Makeup, and Permanent Makeup. Let’s explore each solution and the Pros and Cons for each option.
Henna is a reddish brown powder made from dried henna leaves. It is a temporary solution to color the brow hair. Mix with water or a pigment developer to form a paste. Use a small brow brush or a stamp to apply to the desired brow area.
Pros:
Henna powder is an Organic product. However, mixing it with a pigment developer chemical will lengthen the color duration.
Fairly inexpensive when done at home.
There are professional Henna studios that provide brow services.
Can be purchased in powder or ready to use paste.
Henna will temporarily dye hair and skin.
Cons:
The paste consistency makes it difficult to use on your own brow hairs with precision.
For maximum color, it is recommended to leave Henna on brows for 30 minutes prior to rinsing off.
Repetitive use can cause itchy dry skin.
May fade reddish depending on the color you use.

Hair Dye that’s used on your hair can also be used to color eyebrow hair.
Pros:
Color can last up to 2 weeks.
Variety of color choices.
Most hairdressers will apply dye on brows when they dye your hair.
Professional Brow studios offer this service for about $30.
Cons:
Be careful when using a solution near the eyes.
Applying hair dye to eyebrow hairs at home with precision is not easy. But with practice, it gets easier.
The dye may color the skin surrounding the brow hair distorting the brow shape. However, the color on skin will wash off in a few days.

Laminated Brows is a straight perm for your eyebrow hairs. It does not darken the color of the brow hairs, however, it does result in uniformity of the direction of brow hairs. Pros:
Lasts four to six weeks.
Professional brow artists can improve the brow shape.

Cons:
Lamination solution can irritate the skin. If you have sensitive skin (eczema or rosacea) be sure to do a small patch test behind the ears prior to using on the face.
Brow hair follicles are delicate. Long term and repetitive use of chemicals on the brows may cause thinning of hair.
You must have brow hairs for this procedure.
The cost can add up $50 to $70 dollars per session.
